Eura Drives M30 series inverters

The M30 series is built for drives that live in difficult conditions. The housing is metal, rated IP66 and NEMA 4X, and it mounts directly on the motor or on a wall beside it. That takes the control cabinet out of the job and, with it, the long screened cables a panel-mounted drive needs, which is usually where the cabling cost and the interference problems sit.

Eura Drives M30 inverter with IP66 housing mounted on an electric motor

It drives asynchronous motors and PMSM synchronous motors, with scalar VVVF control plus the VC, SVC and VC1 vector modes. Output frequency reaches 650 Hz in VC mode, which covers high speed machines. Overload capacity is 150% for 60 seconds, and that matters on mixers and conveyors that meet a sudden resistance.

A class C3 EMC filter is integrated. A DC braking transistor is built in and works with an external resistor, with braking time and current adjustable across 0.2 to 50 Hz and 0 to 30 seconds. Protection covers overload, short circuit, phase loss, overvoltage and undervoltage, overheating and vibration. A PID controller and a no-trip function are built in to keep the process running.

The first question is the mounting. The M30 pays off where a cabinet is hard to place or would be exposed to damp, dust or coolant, so tell us where the drive would sit and what it would meet there. Control mode comes next: VC or SVC for accurate speed and high torque at low speed, VVVF scalar for simpler conveyor and fan work.

Then check the output frequency you need against the 650 Hz ceiling in VC mode, and the overload capacity against the load pattern. Typical duties are industrial and construction drives, pumps, fans, conveyors and automation systems working out in the plant rather than in a clean panel room. Send the motor details and the environment and we will confirm the model, with availability confirmed on the quote.

Questions about the Eura Drives M30 series

Why mount the inverter on the motor?

It removes the control cabinet from the installation and the long screened cables that run between a panel and a motor. That cuts cabling work and the interference those cables can carry. It also puts the drive where the machine is, which helps on a site where panel space is scarce or a long way from the plant.

How much protection does IP66 give?

The metal housing is rated IP66 and NEMA 4X, which covers dust and jets of water, so the drive can sit in an area with damp, dust or coolant about rather than needing an enclosure built around it. Vibration protection is part of the protection set too, which matters on plant and construction machinery.

Which control modes does the M30 have?

Scalar VVVF plus VC, SVC and VC1 vector modes, and it drives asynchronous motors as well as PMSM synchronous motors. Use VC or SVC where speed has to be accurate or torque has to hold at low speed. VVVF is enough for simpler conveyor and fan duties, and it is quicker to set up.

Can it brake a load?

Yes. A DC braking transistor is built in and works with an external resistor, with braking time and current adjustable across 0.2 to 50 Hz and 0 to 30 seconds. That range covers most stopping duties on conveyors and mixers. Send us the inertia and the stopping time you need and we will size the resistor with the drive.

What is the highest output frequency?

650 Hz in VC mode, which is well above a standard 50 Hz motor and suits high speed machines. Check the motor is rated for the speed you are asking of it before setting the drive that high. Tell us the frequency the application needs and we will confirm the mode and the model that supports it.
