Brake motors
A brake motor carries a spring-applied, electrically released brake on the non-drive end: cut the power and the load stops within a fraction of a turn and stays put. Compulsory on hoists and lifts, standard on inclined conveyors, doors, gates and positioning drives. DC brakes with a rectifier for most duties, AC brakes for fast cycling, hand release levers and microswitches on request, and matched to the gearbox so the whole gear motor arrives as one unit.

Questions we get asked
Is a brake motor the same as a self-locking worm gearbox?
No. A worm gearbox may resist back-driving but is never certified to hold a load. If the load must not move with the power off, a brake motor is the only correct answer.
