Who we are

GearMotorsUK (“GearMotorsUK”, “we”) supplies gear motors, electric motors, gearboxes and inverter drives to businesses in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal information described here.

What we collect and why

• When you request a quote or contact us: your name, company, email, phone number and what you tell us about the product and the application. We use it to answer you, to size and quote the product, and to fulfil an order if you place one. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request before a contract, then performance of the contract.
• When you order: delivery address, invoicing details and a record of what was supplied, kept for our accounts and for warranty. Lawful basis: contract and legal obligation (tax records, six years).
• Automatically, for security: the enquiry form records basic technical data such as your IP address to limit spam and abuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.
• Analytics, only if you accept: anonymised usage statistics through Google Analytics 4, loaded only after you click Accept on the cookie notice. Declining changes nothing about how the site works.

Who sees it

Our sales and technical staff, and where a product is made to order, STM Polska in Poland receives the technical specification (not your contact details unless a factory engineer needs to speak to you and you agree). Our email is hosted by a mainstream provider; the website is hosted on servers in the European Economic Area. We never sell or rent personal information.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become orders: up to 24 months, so a repeat question can be answered with the earlier sizing. Orders and invoices: six years after the tax year they fall in, as HMRC requires. Analytics: as set in Google Analytics, 14 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict processing, and take it elsewhere. Write to us and we answer within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle it you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
