VR worm gearboxes
VR worm gearboxes are compact worm gear reducers supplied without a standard motor interface. The input is a solid shaft, so you decide what drives it: a handwheel with a handle turns the unit by hand, or a belt pulley takes the drive from a motor mounted elsewhere on the machine. Inside is the classic worm and worm wheel pair, which is how a unit this small produces a high speed reduction with stable torque at the output.
That input arrangement is the reason engineers pick the VR. Where there is no room for a motor on the gearbox, or where the drive already comes off a belt, a solid input shaft removes the constraint of a motor flange. The mounting can be adapted to the space available, which matters on a retrofit where the gearbox has to sit in a frame built for something else.
VR units go into ordinary industrial drives, both in new installations and in the modernisation of existing ones, where the job is high reduction, predictable running and simple integration with the machine. The same series is also listed in an E build, VR-E, with the same solid input shaft and the same drive options.

Questions about the VR series
How is a VR worm gearbox driven if it has no motor flange?
Through the solid input shaft. Fit a handwheel with a handle and the unit becomes a hand drive for setting and adjustment. Fit a belt pulley on the same shaft and it takes the drive from a motor sitting elsewhere on the machine. Tell us which you intend to use and the input speed you expect, and we will confirm the ratio and the build.
When would I choose VR instead of a gearbox with a motor flange?
When the drive does not come from a motor bolted to the gearbox. That covers manual adjustment by handwheel, belt drives, and retrofits where there is no space for a motor on the unit itself. If a motor will be mounted straight onto the gearbox, a build with a standard motor interface is the better starting point.
What do you need from me to quote a VR gearbox?
