WPF parallel shaft gearboxes
WPF is a parallel shaft gearbox for installations where there is very little room. The shafts sit parallel to each other, which keeps the casing shallow while the unit still produces a high output torque, and it lets the drive go into places where a standard helical or bevel gearbox will not fit.

Several working positions are available, along with a choice of build versions, so the gearbox adapts to the machine rather than the machine being redesigned around the drive. The gearing is durable and the intervals between inspections are long, which cuts service cost on equipment that runs continuously. Low profile, high efficiency, low angular backlash and quiet running are what buyers pick this shaft-mounted style unit for.
Sizing starts with the space you have and the working position the gearbox will sit in. Then fix the direction of the load, the duty (continuous, intermittent or shock) and the torque required. The ratio comes next, because it sets both the output speed and how much load the unit can carry in that configuration.
In a tight installation, check the shaft dimensions, the fit to the machine and the coupling components early, because that is where a compact drive usually comes unstuck. High temperature, dust and damp change the seals and the lubrication class we specify. The gearing itself stands up to long running, but the size and the ratio have to be right for the life to follow.
WPF units are used in packaging machines, linear transport systems, robotics, industrial automation and CNC applications, where mounting space is limited and the movement has to be accurate. Send the speed, torque, available dimensions and the working environment, and we size it and quote within one working day.

Questions about the WPF series
Why choose WPF over a standard helical gearbox?
Space. The parallel shaft layout gives a low profile, so the unit goes into machines where an inline helical or a bevel gearbox has nowhere to sit. You keep a high output torque, high efficiency, low angular backlash and quiet running, and you get a choice of working positions to suit the machine.
What do I need to check before I choose a size?
The available mounting space and the working position first, then the direction of the load, the duty (continuous, intermittent or shock) and the torque required. After that the ratio, which sets the output speed and how much load the unit carries in that configuration. In tight installations, check the shaft sizes and the couplings early.
Where are WPF gearboxes normally used?
Packaging machines, linear transport systems, robotics, industrial automation and CNC applications. They are the choice where mounting space is restricted and the movement has to be accurate. Long intervals between inspections also make them a sensible fit for machines that are hard to get at once they are installed.
How does the environment change the specification?
High temperature, dust and humidity affect the seals and the lubrication class. A gearbox that will run in a hot or dirty area needs both specified properly, or the sealing becomes the part that fails first. Tell us the conditions with the duty figures and we allow for them in the quote.
